A Chinese Imari plate of the late Qianlong period. Very lively and fluid brush work in underglaze cobalt blue with red iron applied in second firing and and traces of gold, finished with a brown rim edging.
The pattern depicts the corner of a fence, a rock and plant with fruits and flowers.
The body and glaze have a blueish hue characteristic of ceramics from Jingdezhen.
Cracked cleanly across and pinned at the back probably by a proud owner of the 19th century.
A Chinese export item and most likely was used for display rather than use.
