SOLD Hirado tea bowl
£350.00 inc. tax
A late Edo period tea bowl finely decorated in a soft blue underglaze cobalt, with pines and dragonflies.
It is unusual to find such fine eggshell ware painted with underglaze as the moisture from the brush could damage the very fragile body before firing.
This is an object of exceptional quality. Made at the Mikawaji kilns on the Japanese Island of Hirado.
The bowl is marked on the base with the mark of Hirado Sei Mikawaji in blue underglaze.
