Nantgarw Plate Decorated By William Pollard c.1822
There are all other plates, and then there are Nantgarw plates.
This Nantgarw plate is something particularly special having been decorated by William Pollard.
It is most probably one of a group of Nantgarw wares which were auctioned around 1822 after the close of the factory.
This example is unmarked but I have found two other pieces in this pattern both marked and sold at auction by Rogers and Jones of Cardiff.
A careful inspection of the moulding and the paste leaves me in no doubt that this is from the Nantgarw factory.
A similar plate is shown in the book "NANTGARW PORCELAIN ALBUM" Illustration 73.
